Casablanca Chili From Ezra Cohen Montreal

In the spirit of the year’s two biggest holidays looming on the horizon, our very own Ezra Cohen, McGill University graduate and known food lover, has shared his vision for creating a healthy dish that can be enjoyed by the entire family.

Cooking large-scale meals for family holidays, like Christmas and Thanksgiving, is extremely exhausting, and sometimes takes more than an entire day! Since these gatherings are supposed to be focused more around family, sharing, and celebrating another year conquered, we wanted to share a recipe for our Casablanca Chili, but with a twist.

Casablanca Chili

We want you to put our all-natural Ezra Cohen peanut butter in chili! Yes, you read that correctly, we want you to use our nut butters in the chili, and let us say, it’s a game-changing elevation of traditional chili recipes. Keep reading below to discover how to craft this unique dish.

 

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • 3 cups cooked ham, cut into one-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 (9 ounces) package mango chutney
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons Ezra Cohen peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1 (15 ounces) can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (16 ounces) can chili beans in spicy sauce
  • 2 (10 ounces) cans diced tomatoes with green chile peppers
  • Large Saucepan or Dutch Oven

Here’s How It’s Done

  1. Pre-heat on low, an extra-large saucepan or Dutch Oven
  2. Combine the diced ham, brown sugar, allspice, mango chutney, lime juice, and Ezra Cohen all-natural nut butter into the pan, stirring well until contents are thoroughly mixed
  3. Increase heat slightly, and then add the chili beans, chickpeas, raisins, and diced tomatoes, again stirring thoroughly to fully mix ingredients
  4. Raise temperature to medium-high heat, stirring continuously for 15-20 minutes, or until the mixture is heated through
  5. If needed, allow chili to cool for a couple of minutes, before serving

It’s a pretty simple recipe for an explosive result, and if following the above steps, you’ll be left with about 6 servings once it’s all said and done. The entire process, from prep to cooking, shouldn’t take you more than 30 minutes; this is a family-sized meal in less than an hour! Nut Butter Dog Treats From Ezra Cohen Montreal

Today, from Ezra Cohen Montreal, we’re introducing a recipe that’s a little different from our previous entries. Typically, in the past, we’ve introduced helpful ways to incorporate healthy nut butters into your diet, but we realized that these benefits don’t necessarily need to stop with us. So, in the spirit of sharing, we’ve gone ahead and created a simple, tasty recipe that all your furry four-legged companions will bark head over heels for!

We’re sharing with you all, a homemade peanut butter dog treats recipe that will produce over 100 delicious dog bone cookies for all breeds and sizes. Using just four ingredients and a few utensils, you’ll have these amazing cookies ready for your dog in less than 30 minutes. Find the full recipe details below.

Ezra Cohen Montreal Nut Butter Dog Treat Recipe

What You’ll Need

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup Ezra Cohen’s nut butter-(whichever flavor your pooch likes)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce or mashed banana-(whatever your furry friend prefers)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable, chicken or beef stock
  • Bone-shaped cookie cutter
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Ungreased Baking Sheet
  • Rolling Pin

Here’s How You’ll Do It

  1. First up, preheat your oven to 350°F and let it heat up while you prepare the treats
  2. Take the large mixing bowl and combine your flour, Ezra Cohen nut butter, and either your apple sauce or mashed bananas, stir this mixture consistently while adding your desired stock, the mixture will begin to form a dough
  3. Keep mixing this combination until the dough becomes thick, malleable, and slightly damp, then use your hands to form the dough into a large ball
  4. Place the dough onto a flat surface, roll out evenly with a rolling pin until the dough is roughly ¼ inch thick, next use a cookie cutter to cut the dough into shapes–(we personally like using dog bone cutters)
  5. Your final step is to simply place them in the oven, and let ‘em bake until golden brown!
